Mary, a much-loved resident at Fremantle Court Care Home, recently celebrated her 100th birthday. To mark the occasion, her family and the Fremantle Court team arranged a special party attended by 30 family members including Mary’s three children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
The celebration featured a delicious buffet and a 100th birthday cake prepared by the talented chefs at Fremantle Court. Mary was also delighted to receive two handmade birthday cards from the staff, signed by over 100 people wishing her all the best on her milestone birthday.
Adding a personal touch, care worker Maria and activity coordinator Toni created a “This Is Your Life” book for Mary. The book documented key moments from her life, family history, and significant events she has witnessed over the past century. It was a heartfelt gift that Mary said she would cherish forever.
Before moving to Fremantle Court Care Home in Stoke Mandeville more than two years ago, Mary lived in Tring, where she spent over 30 years organising and running the Over 60’s Valiant Club. One of her most treasured memories from her lifetime was visiting Egypt and seeing the pyramids.
Mary also received a special birthday card from King Charles and Queen Camilla, which was a highlight of her celebration. Reflecting on her long and happy life, Mary shared her secret:
My family have always kept me young—it’s so wonderful to have such a caring family.
I’ve had such a lovely time seeing everyone, Mary said. The cake was amazing, and the ‘This Is Your Life’ book is something I’ll never forget. Everyone has been so kind.
Happy 100th birthday, Mary!
