The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), which recently merged with the Fremantle Trust are delighted to announce in partnership with Housing Solutions, the start of a major refurbishment of a previously closed care home in Wing.

Upon completion of the works, the revitalised care home for older people will be known as Wing View Care Centre. The choice to rename the home was inspired by the local setting.

The refurbishment will involve a comprehensive overhaul of the interior of the main building, providing a modern, comfortable, and supportive environment for residents.  Key features of the refurbishment will include state-of-the-art fixtures and equipment; contemporary furnishings and décor; and upgraded wi-fi connectivity. Communal areas will also be reconfigured to create vibrant social spaces for residents and their loved ones.

Dan Hayes, Chief Executive of OSJCT said: “It is really important for people to have the opportunity to remain within their local communities as they age.  OSJCT has a long and successful history of providing quality care, and our homes are a safe and welcoming place where older people are well looked after and can continue to lead meaningful lives.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Housing Solutions and Buckinghamshire Council to start the refurbishment of this previously closed care home in Wing, and to reveal the home’s new name: Wing View Care Centre.  The complete transformation of this building underscores our joint commitment to providing high-quality loving care, and to creating a safe and supportive environment for older people.

“We’re looking forward to inviting members of the community to have a look around once the refurbishment is complete.”

As landlord, Housing Solutions is leading the refurbishment which will see the care home modernised and enhanced to provide a high-quality environment for residents and their loved ones. Orla Gallagher, Chief Executive of Housing Solutions said: “We are thrilled to collaborate with OSJCT and Buckinghamshire Council on this significant project. Our shared vision is to create a more comfortable, safe, and modern environment for residents. Our partnership with OSJCT and Buckinghamshire Council is a testament to our commitment to providing quality care facilities for local people. We look forward to working together, transforming Wing View Care Centre into a model of excellence in the care home sector. The refurbishment is expected to be completed by Spring 2025. During this period, measures will be taken to ensure minimal disruption to local people.”

Angela Macpherson, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, added: “Buckinghamshire Council welcomes news of the refurbishment of the former Carey Lodge. As the new Wing View Care Centre, the facility will provide a number of additional placements for residents in the Wing area who require this type of care and support.

“We look forward to working with OSJCT once the new centre opens next year, to ensure new residents being funded by Buckinghamshire Council settle in well and are provided with the best quality care for their needs.”

Wing View Care Centre will offer residential and dementia care for up to 75 residents and is expected to welcome the first residents in spring 2025.  For enquiries, please call OSJCT’s Customer Services team on 0800 988 8133.
