To help raise awareness of the variety of careers available within care homes, Icknield Court, residential care home in Princes Risborough, opened the doors to the public for its first recruitment event.

With three available slots to choose from throughout the day, each section of the event began with attendees having a meet and greet with Community and Lifestyle Manager Sue Faulkner, our Wellbeing Companion Mandy Horne and Home Manager Pam Kujeke, who gave each group an informative explanation of the importance of their roles within the home.

As the day continued, each group learnt more about the career opportunities from The Fremantle Trust Recruitment Team, who described that it’s not just care workers who work in a care home: “Many people don’t know how much variety there actually is in a care home. Catering, activities, nursing and managerial opportunities are just a few of a huge selection of opportunities available that have great career pathways.”

On completion of the talks, the groups enjoyed a vast selection of food and were able to partake in activities with the residents after a tour of the home.

Feedback from attendees included: “It’s been a brilliant event. The home has a friendly atmosphere and it’s opened my eyes to Health and Social Care” and “I feel so much more confident having visited the home and spoken to staff and residents - it’s made up my mind to apply for a job role here.”

When asked to give feedback about the event, resident Joyce Miles commented: “It was lovely to meet so many new people interested in coming to work here – hopefully we will see them again.”
