To show their creative interpretations of certain themes, residents in their 90s and 100s used modern technology to capture photographs for a unique exhibition at Icknield Court.

Starting in the summer, residents took on the challenge with a phone or tablet to capture themes including ‘Memories’ and ‘Portraits’. With help of care workers at Icknield Court, each photographer found something inside and outside the home to help represent the theme as they see it.

Following fantastic feedback from the residents, the Exhibition was opened to the public on 24 November 2021. It also displayed a selection of more recent photographs with the theme of ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ which provided visitors with a unique opportunity to not only view the photography but to appreciate how the residents had interpreted and captured their themes.

Kayleigh Martin, Activities Coordinator, commented: “It’s so important to share images of what the residents enjoy and show how they have embraced modern technology. They were in charge of the camera angles so they had full control over what was in the photograph, which makes each photograph even more personal. We plan to do this more in the future.”
