The Lifestyle and Wellbeing team at Fremantle Court care home has won The Arts in Care Homes Award in the annual NAPA Member Activity Awards 2021.

This year, creative activity professionals across three of the homes within The Fremantle Trust, a care home provider based in Buckinghamshire, were shortlisted in the NAPA Member Activity Awards in the following categories: the Arts in Care Homes Award, Best Activity Team Award 2021 and Unsung Hero Award, by demonstrating commitment and passion for embedding arts-based activities within the care home.

The finalists included the team at Mulberry Court in Chalfont St. Peter who were shortlisted in the Best Activity Team category, for displaying excellent teamwork and support. At Icknield Court in Princes Risborough, Domestic Assistant, Gillie Gilroy was up for the Unsung Hero Award, for demonstrating great dedication to activity provision. And at Fremantle Court in Stoke Mandeville, the Lifestyle and Wellbeing team were shortlisted for The Arts in Care Homes Award.

Emotions were running high during the awards ceremony, which was a virtual event, hosted on 1 October 2021 and featured the inspirational London International Gospel Choir and danceSing care. The teams were on the edges of their seats as each winner was read out live on screen. When they received their award, everyone at Fremantle Court jumped for joy.

Stephanie Oliver, Activity Co-ordinator at Fremantle Court commented on the day: “A huge thank you to our residents, we couldn’t have done it without them.”

Resident Gwen Buttery of Fremantle Court said: “It’s not just what they do; it’s the way that they do it. They give us such great pleasure.”

Each finalist from the three nominated homes was presented with a certificate for their nomination, followed by a well-deserved celebration within the three homes.

Sue Faulkner, Community and Lifestyle Manager who put forward our finalists to NAPA commented: “I’m so proud of the lifestyle and wellbeing teams in every one of The Fremantle Trust homes. They are all winners in my eyes. Everything they do is person and relationship centred. The team at Fremantle Court are particularly talented in incorporating creativity in all aspects of activities.”
