Three residents holding frying pan and pancake

Princes Risborough-based care home, Icknield Court hosted a week-long celebration of international cuisine, including a fun-filled pancake race to mark Shrove Tuesday.

The home’s leisure and lifestyle team helped to develop the international food week by collaborating with residents and members of the team to explore global culinary specialities on the back of the tradition of pancake day.

This encouraged members of the team originating from Europe and beyond to put their cooking skills to the test and come up with dishes they were proud of to create and share with everyone at Icknield Court.

The menu for the week featured a showcase of delicious recipes to set taste buds tingling, originating from Europe, Asia and the Caribbean.

Tuesday also saw employees and residents donning authentic chef hats and testing their pancake flipping skills in celebration of Shrove Tuesday and participating in indoor and outdoor races.

Commenting on the celebration, care home manager Antonios Loumousiotis said:

“The team did an excellent job to create a celebration that enabled everyone to get involved in honouring our collective cultural roots. Not only did we cook and sample dishes together, but a series of activities was set up to support the event, including quizzes and discussions to really bring the culinary theme to life.”
