Age UK is a leading charity dedicated to supporting older adults across the UK, providing essential services and resources to help them lead fulfilling lives - something we are deeply passionate about at The Fremantle Trust.

To show our support of this great charity, both our staff and residents recently hosted a heartwarming bake sale for Age UK. The event, held in anticipation of Age UK’s upcoming visit to the home on April 17th for a talk during the monthly Communi-tea, saw residents, family, friends, and staff come together for a well-deserved cause.

The day was a true community effort, with Tomasz, our Relief Chef, showcasing his culinary skills by baking a delectable array of treats. From the indulgent Raspberry Swirl Baked Cheesecake to the comforting Spiced Apple and Caramel Sponge, there was something to satisfy every sweet tooth. The tempting spread also included delights such as Blackberry Meringue Cake, Carrot Cake, and classic Vanilla Sponge. Adding to the variety were the generous donations of mouthwatering Oreo, Cadbury, and Biscoff cupcakes, courtesy of Charlotte Hurst, daughter of Kitchen Assistant Sharon.

“It has been a lovely morning; the cake was tasty, and I think it’s a nice thing to be able to raise money for such a great charity,” resident Rosemary K said, reflecting on the day.

On the day of the bake sale, Lent Rise House was buzzing with activity as residents, along with their loved ones and staff, gathered to support the cause. Together, they raised over £100 through the sale of delectable treats, with additional donations still expected from those unable to attend.

“We had a fantastic morning raising funds, and the total by the end of the day was something we were all proud of,” said Kayleigh Jones, Lifestyle and Wellbeing Lead.

As residents eagerly await the visit from Age UK in April, they look forward to presenting the final total of funds raised. This contribution will undoubtedly make a meaningful difference in supporting Age UK’s vital work in enriching the lives of older adults. Better yet, the day not only raised funds but also created a great sense of community spirit.

At The Fremantle Trust, we are always looking to host new and exciting events that bring joy and connection to our residents and their loved ones.
