On Wednesday, 2nd August, a remarkable display of unity and determination unfolded as residents, family, friends, and staff of Icknield Court participated in the March for Men, a noble initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

The group embarked on their journey from Icknield Court, marching proudly down to Princes Risborough town centre, where they walked the length of the bustling high sreet and back. Along the way, they caught the attention of passers-by and traffic, drawing admiration and support with their uplifting posters held high.

The residents at Icknield Court are known for their philanthropic spirit, regularly choosing charitable causes to support and promote every few months. The decision to champion Prostate Cancer UK was met with overwhelming support, as this cause holds a special place in the hearts of many within the community.

Despite the uncertain weather, the group showed resilience and determination, wearing coats, jackets and umbrellas as they marched forth. Thankfully, the rain held off just long enough!

The generosity of the community was heartening, as passers-by stopped to chat with the participants and offered their contributions into the bucket carried by resident Sarah.

Upon returning to Icknield Court, the group gathered to celebrate their accomplishment, with refreshments laid out to mark the occasion. The event was a resounding success, not just in the funds raised but also in raising awareness and spreading hope for the cause they hold dear.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing Manager Sue Faulkner said, “This is a great way for residents to stay connected with the local community. It ticks all the boxes for enhancing wellbeing, social engagement, physical exercise, fresh air, fun, and gives residents a sense of worth whilst raising awareness and funds for a good cause of their choosing”.
