To celebrate Eid this year, Activity Coordinator Kayleigh Jones, arranged a day of cultural fun for the residents at Cherry Garth. This was a great opportunity for everyone to get involved and appreciate the home’s cultural diversity.

Receptionist Sorbiya Khizar, helped out with planning preparation by sharing her personal experiences of celebrating Eid at home, which residents found captivating.

On the day, friends and family arrived to the sound of Middle Eastern music, which soon had everyone up and dancing. Staff were encouraged to dress up in their sparkliest gowns and residents were able to get henna inspired transferable tattoos, which made everyone feel well-dressed for the special occasion!

Mary, resident at Cherry Garth said, “The hand art is beautiful to look at” and she was “happy to have had the opportunity to have the art done on her own hands.”

After an eventful morning, residents enjoyed an Asian inspired buffet complete with samosa , spring rolls and other tasty nibbles.

Frewini, Relief Care Assistant at Cherry Garth, added “how wonderful it was to be able to celebrate Eid with the residents and enjoy the decoration and music, as it was something very different.”
