Personal Development
Every member of staff in The Fremantle Trust plans with their manager the training and support they need to do their job well. This is not just about training courses - although ours have an excellent reputation - but includes coaching, working alongside more experienced staff, practical skills development and occupational competence qualifications from within the new Qualification and Credit Framework.
"A thoroughly professional and comprehensive staff development programme that supports both the organisation's plans and individual and team development needs"
Investor in People Assessment - October 2006
The Fremantle Trust Training Centre
The Fremantle Trust has its own well established and Award Winning Training Centre, which not only trains our own staff but staff from other care providers too.
The Qualifications and Credit Framework provides occupational competence qualfications which are work based and recognise a person's knowledge, skills and abilities in relation to the scope of their job. These nationally recognised qualifications enable staff to meet the needs of the people we support more effectively as well as offering an aid to career progression. Studying for the qualifications is very flexible and can be arranged around individual and workplace schedules. Candidates are allocated a personal qualified assessor who is backed by full support of staff in the Training Centre.
Training in The Fremantle Trust
Training is a vital aspect in the delivery of good care and is carefully planned to meet a variety of learning styles and to be relevant to service needs. Feedback from staff is used to develop training services and ensure these meet learning needs effectively.
"My training as a dementia care champion has helped me to raise awareness and support staff to recognise and enjoy the moment"
"I was very nervous in my first care job but the induction has been brilliant and I know I made the right choice of job"
"I have learnt lots about the empowerment of service users and how to promote this effectively which I can take back and share in the workplace"
