Manager, Learning Disability Services

image of Kim, ManagerI was appointed a manager in January 2005. I would describe my job as very rewarding and challenging. I like a challenge – so perhaps that's why I love my job and couldn't imagine doing anything else.

My first job in care was in a home for older people when I was 16. After two years there I joined the National Society for Epilepsy, caring for young adults with epilepsy and learning disabilities. I really loved this work and knew I wanted to make a career in care.  A family friend suggested joining the Fremantle Trust and in August 2003 I joined Fremantle as a Senior Carer at Stow Lodge.

The best thing about my job is that I feel I am enhancing peoples' lives. I like taking residents out into the community to have the same fun and experiences that we take for granted. Every day is different.  Sometimes it can be frustrating to have so many competing demands but I cannot imagine any other job where your contribution makes a real difference to the life quality of another person.
