Domestic, Home for Older People

I work in a home for older people in Aylesbury, and have been doing so since June 2001.

I like to see our residents enjoy clean and comfortable surroundings - it makes my day to spend time chatting to residents and discover what is important to them - their bedrooms are very individual and they like things done a certain way - just the same as we do.

During my working day I make beds, hoover and polish with general cleaning and tidying up. I spend some time in the laundry. I enjoy my working conditions because everyone is part of the team and we all work together to give support.

What gives me most satisfaction is to see the residents' home looking bright and clean, I know they appreciate it.

I have always enjoyed cleaning and have had several part time jobs but when I started here I got such job satisfaction. I know I make a difference to their lives and they have certainly made a difference to mine - so much so that working for Fremantle is now my only job and I love it!
